About DOKS
The DOKS project aims to strengthen cooperation between professional dance practitioners in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, with a particular focus on the independent dance sector. This includes smaller dance companies and freelance artists, who often work under precarious employment conditions and have limited career development opportunities. By offering specific activities and collaborations across the borders between Sweden, Denmark and Norway, the project aims to create more and better job opportunities for these professionals, e.g. in the form of more co-productions and more touring for the companies, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of the dance sector in the region.
The project thus enables dance professionals to meet and exchange experiences, and through workshops, seminars, longer stays and other meetings, dance practitioners, technicians, producers, communication staff and others have the opportunity to learn from each other and understand how work is done in neighbouring countries. This will strengthen both individuals and the entire dance sector in the region.
The project will therefore strengthen professional networks, open up new collaborations and stimulate innovation within the dance sector, thereby building skills and relationships across national borders.
The DOKS project began in September 2025 and will run for three years. DOKS is supported by EU Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak.
